Memorable songs from WWII

During the second world war, not only the sound of airplanes and shooting was heard, but also the music. Lots of songs have become a global phenomenon.

Talking from the Germans, there is a love poem written by a German soldier in World War I but was turned into a song in 1938. It’s “Lili Marleen. ” A song that became extremely popular among both sides of the war. Here we have the song:

 

On the Soviet side, there is a song by a girl named “Katyusha” that explains the waiting for her boyfriend who’s fighting in Russia. It was also created in 1938. Here we have the song:

 

On the U.S. side, a song  of jazz, and 1945: “It’s Been A Long, Long Time. ” The song tells the greeting given to a relative after years without seeing him because of the war. Here we have the song:

 

Last but not least, on the British side, we have “We’ll Meet Again” from 1939 which talks about a future reunion with loved ones. Here we have the song:
